Soyuz TM- 16 Flown Heat Shield Plug 3 inches in Diameter The outer surface of the heat shield plug protection is partly burned out during re-entry through atmosphere. At the attitude of 80 km. the temperature rises across the surface of the heat shield, as the plasma sheath that surrounds the craft. Inside the module the crew observe the dancing purple flares and sense the searing heat as they plummet earthwards. The plug 3" in diameter is in 3D display, size 8”x 7.1/2”  Here is some information about this mission:  Soyuz TM-16 Manned two crew. Mir Expedition EO-13. Transported to the Mir manned orbital station a crew of the thirteenth main expedition: cosmonauts G. M Manakov and A. F. Poleschuk.  Soyuz carried the APAS androgynous docking system instead of the usual probe system. Letter of authenticity will be provided with this artifact.
