Space Mail Letter
regarded to Expedition 60 mission aboard the
International Space Station
was delivered to the Space Station by the Russian “Soyuz MS-13” spacecraft. The letter is addressed to Russian cosmonaut Aleksey Ovchinin to the ISS.
First, on April 24, 2019, the letter was sent by registered mail from the city of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, to Russia where it was handed over to the “Soyuz MS-13” crew. Having been delivered to the ISS, the letter was marked with the following seals: the
“ISS”
octagonal board seal; the “
Russian Post.

both dated July 21, 2019, the day when the Russian
Soyuz MS-13
spacecraft docked with the ISS. On the back side of the envelope there is a handwritten note and the signature of cosmonaut Ovchinin. The addressee’s note says: “
It’s delivered by “Soyuz MS-13” spacecraft
”.
What a coincident!
The date of Soyuz MS-13/ISS docking coincided with
the 50
th
anniversary of the first men stepped on the Moon
. N.Armstrong stepped on the Moon at 02:56 UTC on 21.07.1969. The ISS’s crews work on board by UTC.
During that mission, the addressee, cosmonaut Aleksey Ovchinin worked on board the ISS since March 15 till October 3, 2019.
So, this letter is a real document of the “Earth to Space” postal communication and may considered to be as an example of the modern postal history.
The space flown personal letters with handwritten message inside are rather rare philatelic material.

The letter has
the mixed "Postage" franking
by 2 official postal operators of Kyrgyzstan. On the envelope’s face side there is an “
Apollo program
” postage stamp issued by Kyrgyz Express Post
(
the second designated postal operator of Kyrgyzstan, private company). On the envelope’s back side there are 4 “bar-code” labels by Kyrgyz Post (the state postal operator of Kyrgyzstan).
A very interesting and rare item from the philatelic point of view.
